This is an experimental technology
Because this technology's specification has not stabilized, check the compatibility table for usage in various browsers. Also note that the syntax and behavior of an experimental technology is subject to change in future versions of browsers as the specification changes.
The delete() method of the Cache interface finds the Cache entry whose key is the request, and if found, deletes the Cache entry and returns a Promise that resolves to true. If no Cache entry is found, it returns false.
Syntax
cache.delete(request,{options}).then(function(true) {
//your cache entry has been deleted
});
Returns
a Promise that resolves to true if the cache entry is deleted, or false otherwise.
Parameters
- request
- The
Requestyou are looking to delete. - options Optional
- An object whose properties control how matching is done in the
deleteoperation. The available options are:ignoreSearch: ABooleanthat specifies whether the matching process should ignore the query string in the url. If set totrue, the?value=barpart ofhttp://foo.com/?value=barwould be ignored when performing a match. It defaults tofalse.ignoreMethod: ABooleanthat, when set totrue, prevents matching operations from validating theRequestHTTPmethod (normally onlyGETandHEADare allowed.) It defaults tofalse.ignoreVary: ABooleanthat, when set totrue,tells the matching operation not to performVARYheader matching. In other words, if the URL matches you will get a match regardless of whether theResponseobject has aVARYheader. It defaults tofalse.cacheName: ADOMStringthat represents a specific cache to search within. Note that this option is ignored byCache.delete().
Examples
caches.open('v1').then(function(cache) {
cache.delete('/images/image.png').then(function(response) {
someUIUpdateFunction();
});
})
