NLS_CHARSET_ID

NLS_CHARSET_ID returns the identification number corresponding to a specified character set name.

Return Value

NUMBER

Syntax

NLS_CHARSET_ID  ( charset_name )

Arguments

charset_name is a VARCHAR2 expression that is a valid character set name.

Example

NLS_CHARSET_ID('AL32UTF8') returns the value 873.
